‘Maraclea’

is the first 2021 release by Augustus Black & Nestor Zurita, AKA. The Salamander Project.

The Salamander Project is a transatlantic collaborative duo, featuring internationally recognized saxophonist Nestor Zurita and veteran keyboard artist Augustus Black. Augustus Black is the professional name of British composer, artist and writer Benjamin D. Williams. All of the music in this recording is 100% original and was spontaneously created by the duo.

‘Maraclea’ was the name of a long vanished Mediterranean crusader port. This name symbolizes personal enlightenment through balancing the dark (‘mara’) and light (‘clea’) halves of the divided human self. The initial piano performances were recorded at Augustus Black’s Woodshed Project Base, Bristol UK, on a 100-year-old Scheidmeyer upright piano, made in Stuttgart. The tenor saxophone performances were recorded at Nestor Zurita’s studio in Miami, Florida USA. The final mix and mastering sessions took place at The Woodshed, Bristol UK, in February 2021.

‘Maraclea’ by The Salamander Project is exclusively available as a digital download from www.nestorzurita.com All music by The Salamander Project is independently released and exclusively available direct from the artists. Information on further releases by The Salamander Project (plus review copies, bios, performance schedules, lessons,  workshops, etc.) is exclusively available from Augustus Black, by email: wjazzuk@aol.com
