Echoes of a Summer Sky is an original Latin jazz album featuring compositions by Nestor Zurita. The project blends the richness of Cuban and Brazilian traditions with the improvisational spirit of jazz, offering a fresh and contemporary approach to Latin jazz.

Whispers of the Heart is a collection of original Latin Jazz compositions written in Miami by saxophonist and composer Nestor Zurita. The album blends the sophistication of modern jazz harmony with the vibrant rhythms of the Caribbean, creating music that is both intimate and full of life.

This Latin Jazz album contains some of my first compositions inspired in the traditional music of Cuba. "Song for Milo" is a composition dedicated to a cat I had in Ecuador. "Samba pa Isabella" is dedicated to my niece. "Quazum" a song dedicated to a ferret we had in Miami. "Solo para Ti" a song whose tittle was conceived by my mother. "Isis at the beach" another song dedicated to a cat. "Fronds in the Wind" I wrote wile relaxing a summer day watching the palms sway in the breeze.

African music influence is at the heart of the jazz I created for this album. Having spent a long time in South Florida I have always fused together musical elements of the Blues, Afro Caribbean Music and Jazz.
These compositions of mine use traditional harmonic jazz chord progressions and latin rhythms.

I've spent a big part of my life in Miami. Afro cuban music has been a part of my life. I remember spending many afternoons playing dominoes with my grandfather, dad and friends and as I got older drinking cuba libres, smoking cigars eating black beans and rice and lechon. So much goes into the music it is all mixed together. Cuban music and cuban food are bonded together in a magical way.

This album of Latin jazz finds inspiration in my Cuban heritage. I grew up listening to the music of Paquito D' Rivera, Arturo Sandoval, Celia Cruz, La Sonora Matancera and many other Cuban musicians. Salsa, Rum, Cigars, Cuban coffee, black beans and rice were all part of my life. Here is one of many albums that celebrate this period of my life.
